Every year, AWS raises charitable funds through various fundraisers and events. These funds are distributed to nominated Surrey based charities to leave a permanent philanthropic footprint in the local community. Members can download a copy of our Charity Nomination Form by logging into the website. The nominated charities are added to the slate and funds are distributed based on the following criteria and processed as defined by the Club's by-laws. - Any club member may nominate a charity
- All nomination forms are due April 1
- The charity must be registered with the Charity Commission or NHS charitable trust
- The charity must not be sponsored by a political or religious organization
- The charity must be in the UK and its work must benefit the residents of Surrey. The charities may be the receipient of funds for up to two consecutive years.
- Up to 10% of charity funds raised may be available for donation to the Federation of American Women's Clubs Overseas (FAWCO) for development grants and/or educational awards.
- The club will donate money to charities which are earmarked for a specific purpose. AWS Funds will not cover general overhead costs such as salaries, rent and administrative expenses
