Our involvement in local charities gives members the opportunity to make an impression and lasting philanthropic footprint in our community. In addition to making a difference locally, being involved in the community can positively enhance AWS members' overseas experience.
Since 1981 we have raised and donated £570,000 in funds and gifts-in-kind, supporting more than 150 local charities with causes ranging from homelessness, domestic violence, family support charities, physical or mental illness charities, hospice care and many others. The funds for our charity slate come from annual events like the popular Holiday Gift Fayre in November and the Holiday Homes Tour each December.
In addition to an annual AWS contribution presented to each charity at the June General Meeting, charities also receive the benefit of participating in our Holiday Giving Tree and participation in a charity drive or service project during the year.
Our incredible accomplishments for 2010-2011 year were due to our very active and generous membership.
